Estimate a window from the event you know
This dog pregnancy calculator adds a reference interval to a recorded date. Choose first breeding when that is the information you have. Select ovulation or LH surge only when a veterinarian has identified that event. The tool shows the estimated interval, its midpoint and the calendar status on a date you choose.
Read why a dog’s due date is a window rather than a promise before interpreting a result. Other pet and gardening tools are grouped under Biology calculators.
How to use the calculator
- Select the event that matches your record.
- Enter its Gregorian date.
- Keep the status date as today or choose a different date.
- Select Calculate and read the window alongside the stated reference event.
Intervals used
| Reference | Estimated interval after that event | Planning midpoint |
|---|---|---|
| First breeding | 58–72 days | 65 days |
| Ovulation | 62–64 days | 63 days |
| LH surge | 64–66 days | 65 days |
The broader breeding interval reflects uncertainty about the timing of the underlying reproductive events. The midpoint is simply the middle of the selected interval; it is not a personalized probability prediction.
Example
For first breeding on September 1, 2026, the displayed window is October 29–November 12, with November 5 as the midpoint. If September 1 was a veterinary-timed ovulation date instead, the estimate is November 2–4. Choosing the correct reference event is therefore essential.
What the result cannot establish
A calculated date does not confirm pregnancy, count puppies or establish that a delivery will be safe. No health condition or labor sign is assessed by the tool. Consult a veterinarian about timing and any concern; do not wait for the calendar to reach a particular date when the dog appears unwell.
The Dog Age Calculator explains a separate age comparison. The Dog Size Calculator is for a puppy’s rough adult-weight projection, not weight changes during pregnancy.
Frequently asked questions
Does a calculated due date confirm pregnancy?
No. The calculator only adds reference intervals to dates. Pregnancy and wellbeing require veterinary assessment.
Why does first breeding produce a wider window?
The relationship between breeding and ovulation timing can be uncertain. The tool uses 58–72 days from first breeding, rather than treating it as a known ovulation date.
Is the midpoint a guaranteed delivery date?
No. It is the arithmetic middle of the selected interval and is shown for planning only.
