Build names and balanced formulas for supported ionic compounds using cations and anions, including variable-charge metals and polyatomic ions.
Method, examples and limits
Select a cation and an anion from the supported list. Their charges determine the smallest neutral ion ratio. The result gives an English compound name, a plain-text formula and a charge-balance check.
Calcium and nitrate give calcium nitrate, Ca(NO3)2. Iron(III) and chloride give iron(III) chloride, FeCl3. Roman numerals identify the selected metal oxidation state; parentheses keep repeated polyatomic ions together.
This tool supports a defined set of common ions. It is not an unrestricted IUPAC structure parser and does not cover organic structures, hydrates or coordination complexes. Charge balance alone does not establish chemical stability.
