Original instructional diagram for Fish-Oil Labels for Dogs: Count EPA Plus DHA, Not Total Oil. Values, when shown, are illustrative; clinical images do not recommend a dose.
Find EPA and DHA on the actual label
The total oil quantity and the combined EPA-plus-DHA amount are different label values. A product unit may be a milliliter or a capsule. Enter the amount of EPA and DHA in that same unit rather than substituting the larger total fish-oil mass.
Use Omega-3 For Dogs Calculator to work through these inputs while keeping the displayed assumptions in view.
Keep the target outside the calculator
The required target comes from a veterinarian; this tool does not select one for a dog’s condition. If the arithmetic yields a fractional capsule, it is not an instruction to divide the capsule. Product handling and a practical measuring method still need professional confirmation.
This question belongs to the Dog calculators group within Biology calculators.
Read the calculation on its stated basis
Daily EPA+DHA target = kg × veterinarian-supplied mg/kg/day. Product units = target milligrams ÷ labeled EPA+DHA per unit.
No supplement dose is recommended. The label’s total fish-oil mass is not the same as its EPA+DHA content.
Confirm the product label and the complete prescription with the dispensing or prescribing professional before entering quantities. No frequency, route, dose adjustment or treatment decision can be inferred from the arithmetic shown here.
Keep related questions separate
Dog Food Calculator addresses a related part of the measurement or interpretation task. Check its own method before carrying a value from one tool to the other.
