Original instructional diagram for Bird Lifespan Comparisons: Choose the Species Before Comparing Ages. Values, when shown, are illustrative; clinical images do not recommend a dose.
Use a species-relevant lifespan reference
Birds differ substantially in longevity. A reference chosen for one species should not silently become the denominator for another. The calculator deliberately requires that reference rather than presenting a single bird-to-human conversion as universal.
Use Bird Age Calculator to work through these inputs while keeping the displayed assumptions in view.
Keep the analogy separate from development
A linear lifespan fraction does not identify maturity, reproductive stage or health status. It only compares age with an entered reference and scales that fraction to a human comparison lifespan. Treat it as an analogy, not a biological-age measurement.
This question belongs to the Other animals calculators group within Biology calculators.
Read the calculation on its stated basis
Proportional comparison = animal age ÷ chosen species reference lifespan × comparison human lifespan.
The reference lifespan is an input. This linear comparison is not a validated conversion of biological age or maturity.
Retain the input definitions and units with the result. A later comparison should use the same basis; a change in method is a new scenario, not simply a more precise version of the old number.
Keep related questions separate
Hamster Age Calculator addresses a related part of the measurement or interpretation task. Check its own method before carrying a value from one tool to the other.
